As Ian Beale once famously slobbered out..."i've got nothing left!"

I've just moved this site to a new server. Everything looked fine, so without a second thought i nuked the old one. Along with it went the database of small, now out-of-date, blog posts and articles i had written over the years. They're in a backup somewhere but i probably wont go searching for them. Fresh start. Clean slate. This time i'll definitely keep it up...

What actually surprised me wasn't the data loss but how casually i just deleted something that was mine. I'd never do that for a client - there are approvals, backups, backups of the backups; layers of process to stop exactly that sort of thing happening, and not just because there's money involved.

Funny how we engineer systems to respect other people's work, but when it comes to our own, it's disposable. Might try applying a bit of that discipline to myself.

Anyway, welcome to a future blog-post graveyard. Let's see how long it takes.
